The text for this post is: Architecture and Transgression: An Interview with Bernard Tschumi, by Mosley, J and S, Rachel, [electronic resource]
The essay looks at the theories explored by Tschumi in his essay 'Architecture and Transgression' from 1976 and how his ideas and thories have changed in the 37 years since it was written.
Tschumi looks at two 'factions' in architecture - the conservative architects and the revolutionary architects who 'battle' against each other.
The main theme of this essay, for me, is that of transgression - people going against the traditional architecture and creating new styles. For me, this is an important aspect of historical architecture because if no one had ever strayed away from the norm, we would have never had any of the movements which have become so influential in today's architecture.
