Project brief:
This project caters for a special client, the key specifics you will define but your project will cater for approximately a 3 class learning environment in an alternative way. In this project we will explore types of alternative learning environments and we will build within our geographical zone. We will first personally observe the site, research and write our brief, analyse similar and related case studies, explore our creativity and establish our vision for the future of this typology.
You are free to propose a new type of learning environment or your dream school and the list of spaces below is a guide. You can propose new ways of learning and socialising in your school based on solid precedent study. You are also free in discussion with your tutor to decide what kind of drawings and models and at what scale will best describe and show off your project. The site You will take part of your housing block as a site for your school. Your client Your client will belong to the 16-18 age group with a maximum of 90 students, 6 teaching staff and 3 administrative staff including the head of school. The school is to focus on engaging these young people in vocational and/or creative learning. The school will act as alternative provision for young people who choose not to go onto A-level and traditional 6th form college. You will also design all of the outdoor leisure and learning spaces. The total floor area not including the external spaces is to be between 800-1000sqm.
